The people behind the work

Real problems rarely fit inside one discipline, so our members don’t either. Natural scientists, biologists, social scientists, lawyers and policy specialists lead this work together.

We teach each other first

Peer-to-peer training

A farming challenge may call for soil science, public health knowledge, an understanding of the law and a sound policy response all at once. That is why SCI-NAC is built with an all-round perspective, its members working side by side across disciplines.

In our peer-to-peer trainings, a member with deep expertise in a subject leads a structured session for colleagues from other professions. A legal expert may guide scientists through environmental regulation; a field scientist may show policy colleagues how evidence is gathered and tested. Each member is both teacher and learner, and every session is reviewed by a certified professional before it runs.

By learning from one another first, our members are better prepared to communicate with the farmers, students and communities we serve.
